Vault 2014 Compatibility with ACAD / Inventor 2013

The company I work for has recently upgraded to the Autodesk 2014 Suite (network license). We primarily use AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Mechanical, and Inventor to perform our daily tasks. The company does not currently utilize the Vault option. It has been recommended that the company should be using the Autodesk Vault for data management and version control. We have Vault Basic 2014, which is included in the 2014 Suite.

My questions to the forum are ...

(1) Are there any issuues that the company should be aware of wrt compatibility of our historical files with Vault 2014 ? (primarily Inventor 2013 .. but all legacy files are considered) ?

(2) Are bidirectional file opening and saving possible with our 2013 files and Vault 2014 ?

Any comments from the forum are appreciated.

Here is a link to Vault 2014 Readme.

In it you will see a section called "Support for Prior Vault Clients and Add-Ins".

This describes the scenerio you are looking to support.

The short answer is yes, you can use 2013 clients/add-ins with the 2014 server.

Hello Mikel,

Again, thank-you for your response. The link which you have provided in your most recent reply does work. Thank-you for looking into this for me and providing some direction. I will read / review what is written in the suggested documentation and respond if I have questions.

I appreciate your help.

Brad
