Vault 2012 crash AutoCAD when check in

Hi,

  I just installed a couple of machine for extend testing. normally, I login as my name with admin permission to install Vault Pro, CAD Addin, Office Addin. When my co-worker login as her name, she cannot see the Vault ribbon in AutoCAD, so I copy vaac.cuix, load it, then the ribbon appear. Now she open (with check out) a drawing, do some change, when she login the drawing, AutoCAD crashed with "Fatal Error: ...".

  What should I done to fix it?

  Thank you so much.

Wes

Hi Wes,

Can you check that the AutoCAD Add-In for Vault has been installed for her user profile? You can do so by accessing Windows Program and Features -> Autodesk Vault Client -> Uninstall/Change -> Add/Remove Features. It is not advisable to copy and load the vaac.cuix customization file manually.

Samuel

Hi Samuel:

  Thank you for your time.

  Vault CAD Addin has installed because I can check out drawing in AutoCAD.

  This is a typo in last sentense of my post,

  "when she login the drawing, AutoCAD crashed with "Fatal Error: ...". "

  should be

  "when she check in the drawing, AutoCAD crashed with "Fatal Error: ...". "

Thanks

Wes

As Samuel suggested, perhaps Vault was installed properly using your Windows profile, but with your co-worker's profile, it was not installed properly.

Try logging into Windows as your co-worker, and installing Vault client.

Or try this:

To restore the Vault ribbon and toolbar, enter CUILOAD and load the "VaAc.cuix" file from the respective locations:

  • For Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\ [username] \Application Data\Autodesk\ [product name] \R18.1\ [lang] \Support
  • For Windows 7 and Vista - C:\Users\ [username] \AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ [product name] \R18.1\ [lang] \Support

Another possible solution can be found here:

Hi Jeff:

  first thank you for your response.

  In last 2 week, I worked with our IT department to

  1. repair install Vault AutoCAD Addin

  2. re-install Vault AutoCAD Addin

  3. un-install and re-install AutoCAD, Vault Addin

  4. re-image Windows, re-install AutoCAD, Vault Addin

  when I check in drawing in AutoCAD, still got the "FATAL ERROR: ..." error message in the attached file.

  I test with IT administrator account, my admin account, my co-worker working account, all same crash.

  I tried it on 3 others co-worker, same problem. only one even weird:

  if I login Windows as my name, it crash as everybody;

  if my co-worker login Windows as her name, it works fine.

  Please help, I need them to test on all our major client to find what kind of problem will be before production.

Thank you,

Wes

Wes,

Is this error happening on a particular drawing, or all AutoCAD drawings?

Are you running AutoCAD 2012, and Vault client 2012, all with the latest service pack?

Hi Jeff:

  Thank you for your reply.

  This happen on any drawing.

  It works on 3 of 7 machine but not the other 4. All are AutoCAD 2012 but in different vertical product. mine is Map 3D, others are AutoCAD Architecture;

  Vault Server is 2014;

  Client side, Vault client, Office Addin and Outlook Addin are all 2014, AutoCAD Addin is 2012.

  Out IT and I use one of problem computer to troubleshoot.

  yesterday, we install the AutoCAD Architecture 2012 SP2, stil same crash.

  today, when check in, I change the "Visualization Attachment Options" from "Create during check-in" to "Do not create", then it works.

  Now the question is why it crash when create visualization file?

Thanks

Wes
