Upload in Workspace Sync

Why aren't there "Upload - New" or "Upload - Overwrite" functions in Workspace Sync?  I use Vault to manage all of my files, not just ones from Autodesk products (i.e. Microsoft Office files, Minitab files, pdf's, txt files, etc.).  Many times, it is easier to create folders and save files locally than do it through the Vault application.

For example, when I create pdf's, Minitab files, or txt files , I have to save them in a local directory since there isn't a Vault plugin for those applications.  If I tried to everything possible in Vault, I would have to create a folder in Vault and then download it to the local workspace in order to save pdf's in it.  Then I have to manually add files to the Vault in order to have them managed.

The fastest way for me to do this is normally to create folders locally and save files locally, then manually upload the whole folder to Vault.

However, it would be fastest and easiest if, after I created folders and files locally, Workspace Sync would search my local workspace for unmanaged folders and files, and then upload those that are new if I wish them to be uploaded.

I hope Vault 2012 has this functionality because it would allow Vault to truly be a complete solution to managing all files.

Does anyone know if this functionality exists in Vault 2012 (or 2011)?
