Hello,

You need to uninstall ADMS 2008 first and install
ADMS 2009, then launch ADMS 2009 to do miagration. I think this is very fast,
maybe take you 20 mins.

Thanks,

Ellen

Yeah, if you can ever get past installing ADMS 2009 after uninstalling
2008! I've tried on 2 machines and it seems no matter what I do I always
end up with and "Error 29001: ... Bad Request". Wondering of there is
a way to install each part separately (AUTODESKVAULT SQL instance,
ADMS and then Content center libraries), instead of the main inventor
setup procedure?

Just keep in mind that the length of migration is
affected by the amount of data you have in the vault. I think in general it is
safe to say it will be under an hour or two.

After migration, the system is operational but some
post-migration tasks are performed [validating all the files in the file store
& building a search index]. These won't prevent your users from working, but
in the case of a search they could get a message that the search index isn't
up-to-date yet.

During the un-installing ADMS2008 & installing ADMS2009, do I have to cut all users access?

No - the system automatically blocks access while
migration is running.

If I put the ADMS 2009 DVD in my computer & start the installation without preliminary un-install ADMS 2008, will the setup automatically un-install the ADMS 2008 or do I have to do it manually?

The installer will detect the existing ADMS and ask you to uninstall it.

First thing to do is read all documentation, including "Plan
Your Install" If this is a time-critical situation, you may want to have your
reseller Implementation Expert in the loop. Be sure to backup your current Vault
before doing anything.

document?

With the install disc in the drive, you can browse into the contents of the dvd and you'll see a docs folder. You'll find the document in there. Otherwise, if you run the setup.exe and are running the installation, you'll see a 'documentation' link near the bottom. Hit this link and you'll see this among the list to choose from.
