TS1054281 can't be installed

When installing the hotfix TS1054281 the error below is displayed.
-IIS is not running as the default web server-
However ISS is running as the default web server.
What else can be wrong.

Marcel,

Can you connect to the Vault server from other client machines? Or are you
only using Vault on one machine (server and client)? The reason I ask is
that you may be using Autodesk Web Server (AWS) and just not realize it.
However, if AWS is installed that would mean you are only able to use Vault
on that machine only and other clients wouldn't be able to connect - even if
IIS were installed AFTER the Vault server is installed. However, if you
installed IIS first (rebooted) and then installed ADMS, or Vault server,
then AWS would not get installed and you would indeed be utilizing IIS.

If you type in this URL into Internet Explorer, is the page visible or does
it return errors (like 401, etc)?

http://SERVERNAME/AutodeskDM/Services/KnowledgeVaultService.asmx

SERVERNAME is the name of YOUR server. Just replace that part.

Did you have to do anything special when you installed the ADMS like move it
to a different web site in IIS, or otherwise?

Let us know and we'll try to help your troubleshoot this..

Thanks,
Bob

I got the same message, however, I remember getting that message as a
warning during the install of Vault. I had installed Vault on a server
that had other web services installed. The problem is that the hotfix
will not install even though the Vault Server will. The workaround I
finally got was to have someone send me a copy of the updated dll and I
just copied it in. Not an official hotfix but I think it worked.

Thanks for the replies,

Sorry for my late response. Here first the answers to the questions Bob henry asked.

1) We can connect from multiple client to the vault installed on a server.
2) Typing in the url http://SERVERNAME/AutodeskDM/Services/KnowledgeVaultService.asmx display's the page without any errors
3) By installing the vault I can only remember a problem with an address of 80. The address was available but the vault/ADMS didn't recognize it. Unfortunatly I don't know how this problem is fixed by our external system manager.

If the solutions described by Cbliss is an approved workaround by autodesk. I can live with the workaround. Please let us know if Autodesk can approve the workaround. Cbliss can then attach the dll. Or is there more than that?

With regards,

Can you check one thing for me?
Open the IIS Manager.
Select the Web Sites folder so that the Default Web Site and other web sites
show in the right pane.
There should be an Identifier column showing.
Does the Default Web Site have a "1" as the Identifier?

In IIS the default website has an 1 as identifier.
