Shortcut icon for a part/assembly

Is it possible to create a shortcut for a file. I am comparing to my solidworks vault days. If I expand a assembly file structure, I could see the tree of part used there. But, if there was a part brought from a different folder, there would be a "SHORTCUT ICON" for that file.

This is a good feature. Can we do this in VC2012?

Hi C1,

We have something similiar in the 2012 release.
It's called project links.

You may want to note that the workflow for creating the 'shortcuts' is slightly different from SolidWorks PDM / PDMWorks.
