Server Busy (Vault 5)

I've searched the NG and have found others with the same problem dating back to Vault 3. We have two different business units in the same builiding using IV 11 with Vault 5 on two different dedicated servers. One group is experiencing the Server Busy problem and the other is not......We have compared the setups between the two and they are set up same.

The problem is intermittent and may lock up the machine for up to 15 minutes before it clears. other times it clears in just a couple of minutes. There are only 3 users with the unit that is having problems.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

Just for testing stop the entire indexing service ( if possible) and see if
you get the server busy error. Most likely you will not.

If its true then -

Please make sure that the Microsoft Indexing Service is not indexing the
directory where Autodesk Data Management Server is installed.
While a directory is indexed all files are locked and hence the request to
server comes up as server busy.

Also make sure that "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary
ASP.NET Files" is not getting indexed since there is no point in indexing it
and if this directory is locked up other operation will fail as the
temporary data are written by the server to this folder.

How will you know that these directory are indexed - Go to control panel ->
Administrative tool -> Computer Maagement->

In computer management window select "services and application" -> Indexing
Service

Under indexing services there will be a list of catalogs. Under each catalog
there will be a list of directories are indexed. Make sure to look under the
"System" and "Web" catalogs.

I submitted our entire Vault database to AD months ago when we were still on
Vault 4. I never heard anything back other than they were able to reproduce
the "server busy" error on their end. In face, the case is still open
(1-753903141). Fortunately for us, going to Vault 5 eliminated this
problem.

Hi Ajay,

I have Basic Vault 2015 server installed on Windows server 2008 and I do not have Windows Indexing service installed. I have 5 Vault Basic 2015 client installed on Windows 7. Sometimes when we try ti check out files by double clicking, we get error message "Server is currently busy, please try your operation again later". As I mentioned, it only happens sometimes. Again when I right click>get/check out or right clicl>open  it works.

I can't figure out what is causing this issue. Please help.

Thanks

Jay Maheta
