I having difficulty in adding an boolean condition in the search & save it.
It appears that there are several IGES files checked into the vault. I need to be able to search all the files meeting the following criteria.
1. File Type : IGES
2. Not Residing inside a ZIP file (Yes, there are some zip file also checked in too)
3. Ignore files if it has IGES or IGS in the file name unless it has a file extension IGS
4. Has the life cycle state as released OR review
Is this possible?

I believe that it can do only AND conditions... I want to know if it can do NOT , OR
Also I want to know if it can do combinations.
the Not can be defined by the criteria. but as you add them, they behave as.
criteria 1
AND
criteria 2
AND
criteria 3
etc...
you just might have to do it in two different searches, or then use filters on the columns in the result search results. To do this it may be easier to setup a search folder with the conditions & then filter them.

Scott,
Thanks for clarifying. I will try them next time I lay hands on my inventor.
FYI regarding the Filter you can set other operators by selecting edit filter, once you have setup a basic one.

Scott,
Wow, This screen shot shows exactly all boolean operators I was talking about. Is this in the screen shot from within the search dialog?
I am very curious to know from which part of the vault, you could go to this edit filter?
Please share this info.

Scott,
This is great ! These searches are performed on the results or inside of a folder. It would have been nice if we could have saved them. Any how, this is great and very useful.
Kudos 2 You.
Thanks

In any normal folder filters applied to it are remembered for the next time you jump into that folder. If you have a search folder saved, then i would expect the behaviour to be the same, but i haven't tested it.

Thats a wonderful tip again. And again, you were right, those articles you pointed and videos hidden there are a great resource for any vault usage learner.
Thanks again my friend.
Guys,
You may already know this, but thought of sharing what I found.
When we are in the find -> advanced tab. We have 3 fields to fill. Property, Condition and Value.
The value field actually accepts Boolean. I have tried using OR operator and it worked great.
I was searching for this operator in the condition drop down instead, whereas I could have used the Value feild.
cheeky lil tip. i will try it out. cheers
