restore single file

Is it posible to restore a single file from a vault backup? or is it the whole backup or nothing?

Michael,

You can detach Vaults you don't want included in the Vault backup. When
you're done, simply re-attach them. The same goes for the Inventor content
center libraries, but those must be detached from the CC Library Manager.

Thanks,
Bob

Michael,

The answer to THAT question (sorry) is no.. however, if you know the
specific file location in the filestore, you could manually go into the
filestore of the backup and pull it out. That said, it would be akin to the
needle in a haystack, so I wouldn't suggest doing so.. At that point, you'd
probably save time by restoring it, pulling the file out, etc.

Is there a special case that you've fallen into that would require you to
restore a single file from the Vault backup? I'm interested in the
particular reason.. maybe there's a different/better way to go about it..

Thanks,
Bob

It is very unusual for us as we never delete anything, no matter how old or obscure, but as the component had not been released to production or even issued a part number, I deleted it .

This particular incident involved a supplier telling us this morning that a component in there catalogue was no longer available, who said this afternoon, that they had found 2000 in there stores, did we still want them.

It wont happen again.

Do you have the # of old versions to keep set to 1 or more in the ipj? You may have a copy of the file you need in the Oldversions folder on the local of the guy who put it into vault prior to the delete. You can restore from that one.

Hi Michael,
In the future, consider creating a Label on the Vault folder where you had
the component. You can restore a Labeled directory (though not from a delete
action) and it will not purge. Before you do delete the folder and Label
however, you can Pack and Go to archive the Label as a zip outside of the
Vault. Hope this helps.
