Rename problem

Hi all,

we are experiencing quite a lot of problems with renaming via the vault explorer. We are running vault 4, no sp's.
In the rename wizard, after hitting the finish button we get the window "preparing files for rename". It's run to a 100% and that where it stays (freezes). The windows won't close and VE does not respond. This does not happen all time, but quite a lot. We have not figured out under what circumstances it happens. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards

Paul

I would try to let the rename run overnight. Vault renames every version in every versions use, so this can take a while.

BUT...................

even on very small assemblies with few versions this appears to take a long time, over half an hour even.

I have never been given a good answer regarding this, just many run arounds about the system number of files ending in "I don't know".

Personally I have found Vaults rename and "Copy Design" to be worthless garbage in real use due to the time they take to complete. These were ovbiously left out of any benchmarks on how much of a time saver Vault is.

All,

In the first post it is mentioned that there are no SP's installed on Vault
4. The service packs that we have released do have some performance
enhancements in them. While I can not guarantee that they will help solve
your issue I do know that they help rename and copy design in regards to
performance. I would suggest that if possible you upgrade to the latest SP
and hotfixes. If your performance issues persist then we can try and take a
closer look at your data set(s).

Thanks,

Craig

Hello Graig,

we have applied sp2 to the vault, no change. But we getting closer to source of the problem. It seems to only happen with parts that are adaptive.
