PS5 upgrade question

Do I need to uninstall 4.5 or just install over the top?
I am going to install PS5 and change my 5 seats of IV 11 to net work
license. Is the correct order PS5, Network license manager, IV 11 & PS on
the workstations?
Do I need to uninstall IV 10 standalone license completely from all
workstations before installing IV 11 network license? Or can they co-exist?

Hi John,

Q: Do I need to uninstall 4.5 or just install over the top?
A: You will need to uninstall 4.5. However, before doing that, please make
sure you have a good Vault backup created using Vault Manager, etc.

Here's a technical solution that should help you with the migration/upgrade
process for Vault/Productstream:

Q: I am going to install PS5 and change my 5 seats of IV 11 to net work
license. Is the correct order PS5, Network license manager, IV 11 & PS on
the workstations?
A: Yes, this looks correct. To be specific, you'll install ADMS 5 (PS5
server), Network license manager and create your deployment (admin) images
accordingly. Then, you'll deploy Inventor 11 and then PS5/Vault5 clients to
the appropriate client workstations. For details involved in the server
side, please refer to the steps in the TS article I posted above.

Q: Do I need to uninstall IV 10 standalone license completely from all
workstations before installing IV 11 network license? Or can they co-exist?
A: This is a complex question, actually. Generally speaking, yes... Inventor
10 and Inventor 11 can co-exist on the same workstation. However, there is a
potential scenario where they will NOT coexist. Please see the lengthy
response I just made regarding Inventor 10 Content Center and ADMS 5. This
should explain a good deal of it in detail. The main problem you're bound to
run into with side-by-side installations of Inventor 10 and Inventor 11 come
into play when you have the Content Center (CC) server installed locally on
the workstation. If the CC server for Inventor 10 is part of the Autodesk
Vault instance (SQL instance named AutodeskVault) then you will not be able
to install Inventor 11 with a local CC server since it will also use the
AutodeskVault instance, which is upgraded/installed as part of ADMS 5 or the
CC for Inventor 11. Once the CC libaries are migrated into ADMS 5 (Vault 5
or Productstream 5) you will not be able to use them with Inventor 10.

Hopefully this answers your questions sufficiently.

Thanks,
Bob
