Procedure to replace a part with its older version.

Currently I have my part assigned to a lifecycle and release to rev B. When I select the part, I can see on the history tab all the old versions. There is a version that even prior to assigning the life cycle. I need to know a way to replace the current version with that old version.

Madhan,

I am sorry to ask this a little different. Are you saying we cant roll vack to different revision? or different version? or cant roll back either?

Thanks

You can't rollback on either.  But you can create a new version, based off an older version.

Hi,

Historical revisions cannot be edited, but the content of historical revisions can be copied to the latest revision.

For example, a part has many revisions

Simple Box => Revision A

Revision A + Some geometry changes => Revision B

Revision B + Some more geometry change => Revision C

Let’s assume that some geometry change has to be done on Revision A. Then, you cannot directly edit Revision A of the part. But you can Revise the Part to latest revision i,e Revision D and then you can make some changes and release it.

Revision A + Some geometry change => Revision D.

Similarly, if you were to replace the different component in Revision A of an assembly, it has to be revised to the latest Revision.

Hope that helps.

Madhan

Hi,

1. First change the status of last revision to WIP (if last released revision is C then making the state to WIP will change the revision to D)

2. Select the part and go to History Tab. Here you can select any version that you would like to download to local disk.

3. For this case, select Revision A and download to local disk.

4. Then Invoke Check Out and uncheck download option.

5. Now, you can modify the file in Inventor and Check In.

Madhan
