network setup

i just don't get it.
So we have a small network and working with autoad, 3Dmax and inventor (server and 8 pc's). The idea is to install vault with data management server on the server. and on the pc's only vault explorer.
been ready a lot and found out that the server need IIS in stead of AWS installed for network setup. but what configuration do i need to make to let it work.
tried installing vault + adms on the server and connencting with vault explorer (still on server) with localhost and that works. but if i change localhost to the server ip the database cannot been found. 😞
somebody maybe have a tutorial?

Hello There.

From page 23 in the file C:\Program
Files\Autodesk\Data Management Server\Help\ADMS_2009_ImplementationGuide.pdf you
will find a description, which I repeat in bullit points below.

The steps you need to take are:

Uninstall the current ADMS (and Client) from the
Server. This will also uninstall the AWS (Autodesk Web Server for local access
only - info for anybody reading this message).

On Server - Go to Control Panel, Click on Add or
Remove Programs, and select Add/Remove Windows Programs, and check the option
for Internet Information Server. Click Next and OK. You might need to dust off
and use the Installation CD for WIndows Server at this point. This installs IIS
on the server, to allow the Clients to communicate with the Server through
IIS.

On Server - Install ADMS

From Client - check that you can login to
<Servername>.

At this point your installation should be
done.

I hope this helps getting you started.

Best regards
