Switching from another PDM system so I'm not quite sure how to make this work in Vault.
We're using Vault Professional 2013.
Redline documents follow this Revision scheme
IR_RL1
IR_RL2
A_RL1
A_RL2
A_RL3
B_RL1
C_RL1
C_RL2
C_RL3
...
where the RL portion can go as high as needed (ex. IR_RL15), and they don't always end at the same number. So I tried to setup this in Vault
Delimiter: _
Primary: Custom scheme (IR, A, B, C...)
Secondary: Custom scheme (RL1, RL2, RL3...)
We need the workflow to work like this:
<Initial Check-In>
IR_RL1 In-Work
IR_RL1 RELEASED
IR_RL2 In-Work
IR_RL2 RELEASED
IR_RL3 In-Work
<User chooses Revise-Bump Primary revision>
A_RL1 In-Work
A_RL1 RELEASED
A_RL2 In-Work
....
The first problem is getting the initial check-in to come in at the SECONDARY revision level. As is, it wants to bring it in as IR. Ok, I can set the revision bump to happen at RELEASED, so that it looks like this:
IR In-Work
IR_RL1 RELEASED
IR_RL1 In-Work
IR_RL2 RELEASED
This obviously won't work. So I can set the bump to happen at both In-Work and RELEASED, but then it does this:
IR In-Work
IR_RL1 RELEASED
IR_RL2 In-Work
IR_RL3 RELEASED
This won't work either. I could just setup the revision scheme to be completely in the Primary portion the revision scheme, but then I have to program in a set number of RL numbers, and then, if the user needs the next LETTER revision, he can just bump it using Revise, he'll have to type in the exact text (A_RL1) to get there.
There's got to be a better way. Any ideas?
