Multiple Disciplines

I am new to Vault, and I see that Autodesk has flavors of Vault that are specific to each vertical (Inventor, Architecture, Civil 3D, etc.). I am not sure that I want that many Vault installations, so can I use just one installation for all these different softwares?

Civil3D really needs the flavor shipped with it, but the rest will work fine
with it. So just install the Civil3D Vault ADMS, and use it from all the
applications. You can even have a mix of data from these different
applications in a single vault if you like.

Thanks for the info, Dave!

Which Vault clients can I use for:
AutoCAD 2008
AutoCAD MEP 2008
AutoCAD Architecture 2008
AutoCAD Land Desktop Companion 2008
AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008

Some of these have the Vault client option in the deployment wizard. If I modify the deployments, can I get the installations updated by re-running the deployment on the target PCs, or will I have to install individually?

Thanks!

Client deployments are a bit outside of my area of expertise (I work on
ADMS); but I suspect each application will need it's own flavor of Vault
add-in installed. In my previous post I was only referering to the server
(ADMS) - the Civil3D ADMS one will work as the backend for each flavor of
the vault add-ins.

Hi OwenW,

These are the software applications that compatible with Vault 2009:
Autodesk Inventor 11.x / Autodesk Inventor 2008 / Autodesk Inventor 2009
Autodesk Inventor Professional 11.x / Autodesk Inventor Professional
2008 / Autodesk Inventor Professional 2009
Autodesk Inventor Professional for Simulation 11.x / Autodesk Inventor
Simulation 2008 / Autodesk Inventor Simulation 2009
Autodesk Inventor Professional for Routed Systems 11.x / Autodesk
Inventor Routed Systems 2008 / Autodesk Inventor Routed Systems 2009
AutoCAD Mechanical 2008 / AutoCAD Mechanical 2009
Mechanical Desktop 2008 / Mechanical Desktop 2009
AutoCAD Electrical 2008 / AutoCAD Electrical 2009
AutoCAD 2008 / AutoCAD 2009
AutoCAD P&ID 2008 / AutoCAD P&ID 2009
AutoCAD Map 2008 / AutoCAD Map 2009
Autodesk Civil 3D 2008 / AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009
Autodesk Architectural 2008 / AutoCAD Architectural 2009
AutoCAD MEP 2008 / AutoCAD MEP 2009
Autodesk Viz 2008 / Autodesk Viz 2009
Autodesk 3ds Max 2009
Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2009

And, do note that for 3ds Max and 3ds Max Design Users: You must install the
Autodesk Vault 2009 Plug-in for 3ds Max 2009 from the 3ds Max or 3ds Max
Design 2009 Installation Wizard to make Vault available from within the
product.

And, "AutoCAD Land Desktop Companion 2008" is not listed as the compatible
software.

If the vault add-in is not appearing in your ADSK product, you could re-add
them with these steps:
a. via Add\Remove Program > Autodesk Vault 2009 > Add/Remove features, and
b. select features to install, e.g. 'AutoCAD 2009 Add-in', or 'Autodesk
Inventor 2009 add-in'.

Hope it helps.

Rgds,
Chear Huat.
