Is there a way by which we can assign PartNumber as Item Number

If part number has a value it will go to Item Number when you assign an item,... but Item Number has to be unique for each Item, so this will only happen the first time you assign an Item for each individual part number.  This becomes a real problem when you are talking about library parts and have several of them in an assembly you are assigning to an Item.  About the only way around this is with a Custom Property.  Let Item Number be whatever it is going to be, then for your BOM (if that's where you are heading) map your Part Number to a custom property in Item Master that you can pull into your BOM.

I haven't noticed that problem. Do you Auto-Select first duplicates?

We don't typically use library files, maybe thats the difference?
