Inventor Files checking out automatically on open.

Lately I have noticed that when I open an Inventor assembly or drawing file that is checked in to the Vault, the top level of the assembly and sometimes some subs, will spontaneously check out and will have the asterisk next to them in the Inventor Vault tab.

Did I set something somewhere?  I'd rather be prompted as to wether I want to check out... because I prefer to use Get Revision.

Chris,

Have you tried checking in the entire assembly, relinquishing ownership of everything, deleteing the entire assembly and its contents off of your local and then checking out just the assembly?

Just wonder if this falls under the category of odd and rare occurances that the system just needs a kick in the pants.

Oh, it needs a kick all right.....

This seems to happen if I open from local or from Vault.  What I have not tried is checking everything in and deleting local, THEN opening from Vault.

No problem.  I'm here for you.

I know Inventor and vault both get me going at times myself.

Hi, I'm having the same issue (after installing autodesk vault basic 2021.) I changed the prompt to ask, and when I open .iam from vault it askes me if I want to check the asm out, I clicked 'no', and the file opens...CHECKED OUT, as well as a seemingly random set of sub components. Any ideas please?
