Invalid file ID message

Hello there.

I'm using Vault pro 2015 and Inventor pro 2015. I'm currently in the process of re-modelling some old parts and assemblies which hadn't been set up to match our bills of materials. This involved deleting the existing files from the vault, making new ones and checking them in. The files had been modelled as parts, and should be assemblies. I have removed the files in question and made my new assembly and drawing, but when I go to check it in I get an error message which reads: "The server returned the following information: File ID is invalid."

Can anyone tell me what this means, and how I can get these parts checked into Vault?
