How Vault works for WIP ipt/idw files that was released ?

Hi Sirs,

I have found that If I have a drawing and a ipt file in released status and change them to WIP, then,...

Drawing is always "given" the released version of the model, unless I open too it in Inventor.

Does it works Vault????

Regards

Hi,

It is because you might have changed the state of the Drawing and the IPT separately. That is the reason the drawing still refers to Released state of the Part.

As you mentioned, the solution is to open the Drawing along with the Part in Inventor, Check out Both and Check-in both. So that the drawing will consume the latest version of the Part and then both will be in the same state.

Hope the above helps.

Hi Mr. Kumar,

Thanks for your clarification.

Both of them are in WIP and the IPT has been modified and checked-in / checked-out sometimes, so, there are some versions after released version of the IPT.

Drawing is not consumming the latest version of the IPT unless it is released.

Could be a mem cache issue?

Can we assume that the behavior is still like you say?????

Thankyou

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

When you changed the state to WIP, did you change them (Both Drawing and Model) together or separately?

Also can you please try the following and let me know?

> Check out both the drawing and model and check-in them from Drawing

> Change and Check-in few more version of Model

Now do you still see that Drawing is showing the released model instead of Latest WIP version?

If IPT model is open in Inventor, in drawing I can see the latest version of the model althought it is in WIP.

If IPT model is not open in Inventor, in drawing I can see the RELEASED version of the model.

Hi,

Thanks again for your reply.

I am uanble to reproduce the issue. Here is what I tried.

1. Checked in both IDW and IPT to vault

2. Assigned Category - Engineering - So State is WIP for both the files

3. Changed State to Released - for Both

4. Changed State to WIP - For both

5. Opened IPT in Inventor, Checked out, edited, Saved and Checked in - Multiple times to create multiple versions

6. During Check-in I deleted the IPT also from the disk

7. Opened the IDW from Vault now

Result: The IPT referenced in the IDW is the Latest version and in WIP state.

BTW, I tried this workflow in Inventor 2011 and Vault 2011. Which version of Inventor and Vault you are using?
