Hi All,
I have an issue that is now causing me some major headaches.
Our IT department upgraded my Vault when we had a new server and at the same time I had a new Worstation, however unfortunately the new workstation is not named exactly the same as the previous one, this has resulted in an error that I cannot see anyway of recovering witout manually redrawing all the parts ( and there are a lot )
Basically files were checked out to the old machine when the update happened, however I wasnt aware of this at the time and now I am trying to access some of these old files and cant.
I have attached a screen capture to show what I mean (this is just a sample of the files that are causing a problem.
Basically the vault believes I have the files checked out but the PC doesnt exist so I can do anything with them and I get an error unable to retrieve file if I do anything at all, checking out or undoing checkout, all the files are greyed out.
Any ideas??
Login to the Vault as a Vault Administrator.
Find the file that is checked out and highlight it
Goto File -> File Control -> Remove Reservation in the Vault Menu.
This will administrativley undo the checkout on the file.

Hi,
THanks for the response however when I do this i get an error message (see attached screen shot)
Hi,
I would try removing reservation per Hywell's suggestion - but using a different account (with admin rights).

Hi,
I have installed the Vault on a different machine and logged in as an Administrator, unfortunately the files wont Uncheck, nor can I get copy, its almost as if the files dont actually exist in the vault? Is this possible, and if so is there anyway of cleaning the file references in the vault? At least that way when I search for a file and cant find it I know I need to draw it again rather than go through all of this hassle.
Hi,
It's hard to picture what's going on. Were you able to run the 'remove reservation' command from the different account? If so, what were the results? Any errors? Are the files currently in an un-checkedout state?
Paul
Hi
The remove reservation doesnt work and I get an error, I have attached a screenshot showing a specific part I tried to do.
Hi,
As mentioned before, I believe you need to log in with a different user account and use 'remove reservation'. Based on the screen shot it looks like you are still logged in as the same user that checked out the files (Administrator).

Hi Sorry about that I though using a different machine and logging in as Admin would do it.
Ive now created a new user and logged in and got the following error,
Hi,
That is pretty strange - not sure what the cause of that error might be. I am not seeing that error on a quick test. One other option (if we are talking about a limited set of files) might be to delete the files in vault (an unconditional delete will remove even checked out files) and re-add the files to vault normally. If you want to get to the bottom of the 'remove reservation' error you are seeing then probably you need to escalate to product support.

I will have a look and find a simple part that I can try deleting, however I am unable to even get a copy of the files on the different machine under this new user, which kind of suggests the file doesnt even exist anymore.
Hi,
Being unable to download the files is troubling - you should be able to do so even if they are checked out. It is begining to sound like opening a case with product support might be the best bet here.
