Howdy,
First of all, we're using Vault Professional 2013.
We had a catastrophic failure on one of our servers yesteraday and have restored our Vault from a recent backup. We are now getting the following File Replication message when we attempt to get/checkout files from the Vault:
"The file you are attempting to access has not yet been copied to your local server. The file is inacessible until it has been copied. Would you like to copy the file now?"
After clicking yes, all is good but I would like to get rid of this warning.
Any ideas why we're getting this?
Much Appreciated,
- Jeff

hello,
this might help: http://help.autodesk.com/view/VAULT/Help/ENU/?guid=GUID-C87C1046-E637-47B6-A81E-F338160328AF
or try this:
This command runs a validation on the file store and databases. This will validate all of the files recorded in the database against the files in the file store. If any files are missing, a dialog displays a list of missing files. This list will also we written in the console log for the server.
Command |
Details |
---|---|
-VUusername |
Vault administrator account user name (required). |
-VPpassword |
Vault administrator account password (required). |
-Ovalidatefilestore |
The operation being performed (required). |
Example
Connectivity.ADMSConsole.exe -Ovalidatefilestore -VUadministrator -VPadmin

The reason you're getting this is because a validation of the filestore vs. the records in the database is done after a restore or attach of the database or when manualy ran via the above.
This checks and records against the files, which files were found in the filestore.
Check the vlogs and you can see if one is currently being ran still after the restore. Otherwise you can run the command above. Depending on the number of files in the filestore, this could take some time to complete.

The most likely cause of this message is that the new server you restored the backup to had a different server name. If you login to ADMS Console and look under Unassigned Sites, you will see the old server name listed. You can just right-click on this old server name and delete the site. The message you are seeing, which is likely benign, should go away.

Hello,
Much appreciate all the help.
As it turns out I jumped the gun.
We started using the Vault immediately after the restore and I believe it was still undergoing some house cleaning - hence the warning messages.
The warning messages have gone away on their own over time.
Many thanks,
- Jeff
