File Property Management

In Vault 4 Explorer, when I try to go into the file property management to turn off the indexing of unused properties, I get the error "The name cannot contain any of the following characters: \/:*?"|"

None of the property names have any of those characters.
Some of the properties may contain those characters such as dates. The only other property that has / in it is the description which may be something like "1/4-20 X 1/2."

I cannot even open the property manager and just hit okay without making any changes without getting the error. Is there a fix for this?

I have the same problem with an installation.
It is exactly the same error as posted. In the screendump you can see that the top-level property is a file-property without an internal name or displayname. That property is causing the problem.
I have re-indexed the vault (which is possible) but the property stays.

What next ??

Michiel,

I've replied two your emails twice. You should have *two* different emails
from me with a solution. Please let me know if you're not getting them
still.

Thanks,
Bob

Why does Autodesk not post the solution here?

Or is the solution very embarrassing for Autodesk?

It is an exe file that deletes an empty field in the property manager. I received the file. I can send it to you if you want.

An exe file, that explains some things...

I don't need the file at this moment, but thanks for the offer!

Cheers!

Bob,

I executed the file, re-indexed, set several properties to "not in use", re-indexed, shrink database.

I reduced the .dbf file from 1.9GB to 500MB.

Have some air now to upgrade to full SQL.

Thanks.

I am having the same problem in productstream 5 file properties in that I cannot merge properties because of the \/:*?"<>| message.
If you can send me the exe file I would very much appreciate.
