Error running BCS Command - Vault 2013 with Sharepoint 2010

Hi All

I have the attached error after creating the sharepoint lists (File, Item and Change Order), displaying these lists and selecting any of the lists created

Any advice/tips on resolving this issue would be much appreciated

Thanks

Max Bodnar

Error 311 means InvalidAuthType.  It happens when you try to log in using a Windows account in an application that doesn't support Windows authentication.

For the Sharepoint integration, you cannot log in with an Active Directory user.  It has to be a Vault user.  The recommended practice is to create a Vault user specifically for the SharePoint integration.  You would name it "SharePointUser" or something like that.

Hi Doug

Can I please ask a separate question?

We have a client that wants to store and manage documents in sharepoint and are currently storing and managing CAD data and other office documents in Vault Pro 2013 using items

Does the integration allow for both systems to be used to store and manage only one copy of a office document, by maybe allowing the ability to link documents stored/managed thru sharepoint to documents/CAD data stored/managed by Vault?

They want to use both systems but want to avoid storing/managing 2 versions of the same document in both systems

Thanks in advance

I think you can get away with something like that, but some workflows might be counter-intuitive.

The SharePoint 2010 integration allows SP to have a read-only view into Vault data.  This data isn't copied to SP.  Instead the Vault data is read in real-time when somebody invokes the SP list.  You can link this Vault data with other data native to SP.

From the Vault side of things.  Vault Server has no idea that an integration exists.  Vault can't read SP data and it doens't know about any links to SP data.

So you can have a system where data is managed by both systems and there is only one copy.  If you want to edit an SP file, you need to edit through SP.  Although SP can see both sets of files, you need to edit Vault files through Vault.  There is no "one-stop-shop" that gives you full control of both sets of files.
