Copy Design deletes part number property

We are using copy design and want to retain original part numbers while creating new filenames.  If we check "update part number for copied parts" the new part number will be updated to match filename (we don't want this).  If we uncheck that box then all the newly created parts will have an empty part number property which we also do not want.  There does not seem to be a way to retain original part numbers when using copy design.  We consulted tech support from our reseller and their installation exhibited the same behavior.  Is there a fix for this or work around?

Thank you

Eric

Thanks for your post.Smiley Happy

As far as I know, the behavior is as design, if you uncheck the "update part number", the part number will be set as empty. Seems there is no workaround for this. You can edit the properties by yourself.

And if you have suggestion, please contact your reseller, thanks.

This is a terrible design.  I was so excited when I found copy design that I wouldtn ahve to get files from the vault and then use autoloader then rename them in vault and then check out again before I started working on my project.  This would be perfect if they would just leave the part numbers alone.  Has there been any updates in 2012?

Hello,

this problem is already existing (I'm working with Vault Prof. 2012, Update 1)!

Did anybody know a workaround now?

At what release will this bug be fixed?

Thanx!

In Vault 2013, if you uncheck update part number, the part number property will maintain its value instead of being blanked out.
