Controling Bias when updating preview??

Hi everybody!

Is it possible to control the Bias when performing a local update of the file preview in Vault??

I'm of course talking about Vault Workgroup and Vault Professional.

I mean, you have these options when opening a file from Vault in Inventor??

If I'm understanding you correctly, then yes you can control the Bias (or revision). You even get a warning in the Viewer that "this view represents historical data". Can you save historical DWF for emailing to someone? That I don't know. I'm only using the standard Viewer (not Design Review).

If you turn on Tools/Options/Show Hidden Files then you can also see the individual Version sof the dwf. I do see differences between looking at IDW dwf's and ipt/iam DWF's.

Thanks for your answer but I didn't mean it like that.

The thing i'm aiming at is the possibility to update the preview in Vault Explorer.

If you do an Update (Locally) inside Vault Explorer it will always produce a dwf with the referenced "childs" in an assembly(or assembly drawing) exactly as it was when the revision was set.

When i open an assembly from Vault inside Inventor I have the possibility to select in three ways:

- As it was when the revision was set.

- Latest released revision of the child components.

- Latest versions of the child components.

This is what I want to control when updating the dwf.

Hope you understand what I mean, it gets a little complex and hard to explain...  Smiley Wink

It is not possible to control the bias when doing an update DWF.

I beleive the default is set to <Specific Revision> with Released Biased on.

When we designed this feature we did not want to add complexity and inconsistancy into the process. The thinking was it would better for all the data to be consistant. We did some research and determined that most customers would want these settings.

Can you explain why you need something else? It always to better understand what our customers are trying to do, when making future design choices.

Hi!,

Many of our customers want to have the latest released revision of the
related children published when they update the dwf(x).

I mean, you can open the assembly in three different ways:

- Revision

- Latest released revision

- Latest version

So why can?t you have these options when you publish the dwf(x) file?

Best regards
