Checking dwg files into Vault

Why is it that if you want to check in a whole folder of dwg files that you
cannot do it from Mechanical Desktop but must do it from AutoDesk
Mechanical, or am I missing something?

Hi Brent,

We do have some memory issues with checking in a large folder of files using MDT and hence we decide to remove the Folder Check In function from MDT.

An alternate solution to this is to launch the AutoCAD profile and perform the Folder Check In from AutoCAD.

We'll be looking at bringing this function back into MDT.

Thanks

I have been using the Check in Folder command in AutoDesk Mechanical to
check in Mechanical Desktop files, only problem is that it is having
problems with files with xrefs. Basically what is happening is that it will
not check in items that have xrefs in them, it tells you to use the
application that created the file originally and check them in one at a
time. I only have a few thousand to do and this just doesn't seem like a
viable way to do this. I will try the same folder using AutoCAD to see what
results I get. AutoDesk had suggested that I use AutoDesk Mechanical to
check in the folders of Mechanical Desktop files.

You stated that the Check in Folder command would be available in Mechanical
Desktop at some point in the future, is there any ETA for that to happen?

Anyone else out there having this same problem.?

Thanks,
Brent

Hi Brent,

AutoCAD should be able to help you check in a folder of MDT dwgs with their xrefs as well. Let us know how it goes for you.

I'm afraid there's no ETA for Folder Check In to be brought back to MDT. I'm saying that investigation and evaluation is going on at this moment.

Thanks
