Yes, we get that from time to time on a Vista x64 workstations. Exactly what you are describing.

It sounds like you might be seeing a periodic bug associated with checking
in / adding inventor DWG files. Here is the main thread discussing the
problem:

http://discussion.autodesk.com/thread.jspa?threadID=665459

There is a hotfix in progress for this problem. In the meantime, a
workaround is to unregister the DWG filter from the command line:

regsvr32 /u "c:\Program Files\Autodesk\Data Management Server
2009\Server\Components\DGWFilt.dll"

You will need to restart IIS for this to take effect.

Hope this helps,

Thank for the help Paul.
The only trouble is that we don’t use dwg file in Vault.
We do have the DWF files that Vault create's.
Could this be the problem? Would this sort the problem as described in the post you pointed at?

Warren.

Hi Warren,

I'm not aware of any problems with DWF files. Could you check whether there
are any errors in your windows event log?

When you encounter this problem, does it go away on its own or do you need
to take some action [e.g. restarting IIS]?

Hello Paul.
I think that i will have to check on the next machine that goes down. I was thinking that it was a vault problem so only checked the events on the server. I dont know why i didnt check local but i will on the next hang.
I dont have any DWG file in vault but do have DWF that get created with vault files.
I dont restart IIS but do close inventor via task manager. That seems to work as the files do get pushed up to vault.

Cheers

Hi Warren,

This is to clarify the issues that you have been encountering with Check In action.

1. When you check in DWG/IDW with DWF, you are seeing check in progress bar that shows 100% and does not get closed.

2. The server reports time-out while working with Inventor DWG

The good news is that we found the cause for issue 2 and we are in the process of supplying a hotfix.

Regarding issue 1, it has been escalated to the management to have it fixed soon.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. If you have any further questions with regards to this please feel free to email madhanagopal DOT t AT autodesk DOT com.

Thank you for your understanding.

Madhan

Madhan, I will check on the next hang if
1, the server reports a time out.
2, if the IDW was set to create DWF,
3, Local Event log.
I will post them to this post so that every one can benefit.
Thank you for your help Madham, we all appreciate it.
Cheers

Hi Warren,

I apologize for the delayed response. For Check In progress bar does not get closed issue, we need to uncheck DWF publish option in the check in dialog. However, I understand from the development that it is being looked with high priority. I will keep you posted as soon as I have an update.

Thank you for your understanding.
