Change Order Markup tool missing

Most of the users do not show the markup tools when editing a DWF. How can I fix this issue as we'd like to use markups when we start using the Vault ECO functions?

The highlighted blue area is what I'm talking about. They have the "standard" tool bar where you can measure, zoom, pan, etc.

I have tried it in Create, Open, Work and Review status.

What is strange is that it works on my machine fine...as long as they are Inventor IDW or DWG's. If I try to markup a AutoCAD DWG or Inventor IPT there are no markup tools. Also this seems to cause issue when going back to view or markup the IDW as now my markup tools will disappear. I have to go back into my Project Explorer or Home and then back into the Change Order before my markup tools will re-appear. This also did not work for the other users.

If it makes any difference I am assigned Change Order Administrator dutes. The others are reviewers, approvers, creators. I thought anyone on the routing list can markup an ECO at any point if it's in their Worklist?

What states can markups get created in?

Kenny

HI Kenny,

Also make sure you are editing the ECO - not just viewing.

That's what I was thinking.  Many users think that double clicking the ECO opens it in EDIT mode.  After all this works in virtually every other program known to mankind.  Smiley Very Happy

In the Vault world, however, you have to right click the ECO and choose EDIT.  Also, they can right click and choose Markup to add markups to an ECO.  Currently, once a change order markup has been saved, it cannot be reopened and added to.  Sorry, Allen, but this is just weird.  What if the engineer forgot a note?... now they have to create a new markup for just that one piece of information.

I'm a huge critic of the markup tools in Change orders, but they is what they is.

They are right clicking and choosing "markup". It brings them into the dialog box to select the file to markup. They click on the preview to open the DWF but no tools are available for them to markup. Shouldn't that work? Why am I able to do that and get markup tools but not the other users?

Check the Roles for the users or the group that they are in... not positive, but I think they need Document Editor (Level 2) for this?  Allan or any other Adeskers care to conform?

Hey Chris,

I have looked into that to make sure they have the appropriate permissions. The group I have them assigned to uses these roles:

Document Editor (Level 2),Document Manager (Level 1),Change Order Editor (Level 2)

Ok... I'll openly admot I'm reaching here.  Smiley Frustrated

Try Vault Settings, Change Orders, Set Client Visibility...  See if both items on the tab are checked Yes.  Not really sure what this does... like I say I'm guessing now.

Hi Kenny;
Were you ever able to solve this?
I've had varying success with being able to fix some computers but not others.

I haven't looked at this one in a while... are you seeing the same problem as the OP?  Same steps to get into the markup tools?  Can you post a screen shot of what the users see whan they attempt a markup?

We've had this problem for a while now. I had another discussion group thread about it and I thought I had figured out how to correct it.
All my resent testing has been done with different domain accounts logging on the same computer but using the same Vault account.

In an ECO picking the Markup menu.
[cid:image003.jpg@01CF661B.61754820]
On users with the problem the markup toolbar is missing.

If I log on to the computer for the first time as a user (zzz1 doesn't have local account on machine) the toolbar is not there.
If I log in as an administrator and remove zzz1 from the registry and any folders under Users, then add the user as a local administrator in user accounts.
When I log back in as user zzz1 the toolbar is there! I've repeated this twice on a laptop here with two different accounts both worked. It would appear that a user requires a local account on the computer before logging in to fixed the problem.

Next I added two users to my test laptop.
Zzz2 with admin access to the computer
Zzz1 with user access to the computer

When I logged in as zzz2 the vault toolbar is there.
When I logged in as zzz1 the Vault toolbar is not there.

I then switched the two user accounts, zzz2 to user, zzz1 to admin.

When I logged in as zzz2 the vault toolbar is not there.
When I logged in as zzz1 the Vault toolbar is there.

This made some sense and confirmed to me that it's related to Windows permissions and nothing to do with Vault or Design Review

I then tried the same process on one of our desktop computers with the same problem. I re-installed Vault 2014 and all updates (using my Domain admin account) after installation I can log in the Vault and the markup toolbar is there.

If I then try to repeat the sets I used to bring the markup toolbar back on the laptop.

Nothing works, every user except the Domain Admin account doesn't have the markup toolbar.

Hi all,

with Windows 10 and Vault Professional 2018 and higher we found following solution:

1. Install Autodesk Design Review 2018 Hotfix

2. Launch Windows Registry with     Windows   Start   >   regedit

3. Rename the Folder Design Review to _Design Review    in   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Autodesk\

4. Launch Autodesk Design Review 2018 > right Mouse Click > as Administrator

5. Open the Autodes Design Review 2018 > Options > Setting your profil

6. Launch Autodesk Vault Professiona 2018 right Mouse Click > as Administrator

7. ECO > Tab File - Preview    ECO Markup Menu available  🙂
