AutodeskDM virtual directory not found on the default website

hi all, i have been experiencing few problems while re-intsalling the vault server. as part of trobleshooting i have deleted the virtual directory according to http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Vault/enu/2012/Help/03._Installation_and_Configuration/004Pre-checks/10.... now i let the vault to install iis automatically. but ADMS check is giving the the above (title) error and there is no AutodeskDM virtual directory in IIS too. how can i add the virtual directory. someone help me please, i need to fix it by tomorrow morning. thanks

I am not sure what version of Vault you are using but if you dont have ADMS installed do you still have this folder?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\ADMS Professional 201x

Maybe try renaming it, restart IIS then rerun the installation.

hi Richard, i am using vault workgroup 2012 collabaration. yeah, that folder is still there. i will give it a try this weekend. hopefully that sorts the issue "accessing an http static content failed at ...". for now, i have installed vault on a XP PC. thanks for the reply.

I've just had this issue with ADMS 2013, installing a fresh ADMS 2013 after uninstalling a previous later version of the console.

Prechecks saying that Autodeskdm virtual directory found on your default website.

Yet when you go over to IIS, there is no Autodeskdm virtual directory.

As weird as this sounds, the solution is to create the Autodeskdm virtual directory and then immediately delete.

1) Right click on Default Web Site > Add Virtual Directory

2) Alias = Autodeskdm, Physical Path = (anywhere you want)

3) Optional, run the prechecks again, it will fail.

4) Delete the Autodeskdm virtual directory you just created.

5) Run prechecks again.  It should pass.

This worked so nice. My vault failed twice in less than 1 month, withouth any notice... First it locked my access to all my 😧 Drive and now problems with ISS (I am guessing it was windows Update).... I am so surprised that Autodesk official documentation is basically like "uninstall" and "install" everything again, sadly without any success (I know it must be so difficult to answer everyone because all of us have different problems). Your answer my friend helped me perfectly, thank you very much. I can confirm it worked (at least for me).

I am not a tech guy, but I am getting tired of Windows/Software and those "tricks" to solve some problems. I don't know how you came with the solution but thank you so much, you saved me time and money.

I am a little tired of the local Vault, I would prefer a cloud based Vault sort of. Sorry for complaining so much! It's just that I was so frustrated trying to solve my problem until I found this answer.

Regards.

Hi Neil,

I tried your add virtual directory and then delete fix on a 2022 install. Works great.

Well done

Regards

Tony
