AutoCAD 2004 with Vault 2014

This may sounds ridiculous, but we have a need to access our Vault system from a few machines running AutoCAD 2004. The reason for using the older version of AutoCAD is due to a plug-in/add-on we use called MD-Tools. We now use the Inventor version of this add-on, but we still have many legacy files created in AutoCAD 2004. The add-on creates proxy graphics that often times get lost when opening the files in a newer version of AutoCAD, they can only be restored by re-opening them in 2004 w/ the add-on enabled. This as you can imagine is a real pain to deal with. We are currently using the client to check out the file and then transferring the .dwg to a shared space to access from the other older machine running 2004. Is there a better method, can the vault be installed to use with the 2004 AutoCAD?

Thank you,

Darek

No this is not possible.   Vault add-in is based on the ARX program format and the current vault addin.arx will not work on AutoCAD 2004.   The lowest you can go is AutoCAD 2013.

Thank you for the quick response, I suspected that this might be the case. We will just nhave to continue to use the current work flow.
