Attaching a file to a Vault Objects

We're runing Collaboration 2010 with Inventor. Within the Collaboration client, there is an option to attach a file. When I try to attach a file, there is aprompt telling I don't have the correct permissions to complete this task.

Can someone tell me where I can change the permissions for this?

Hi Joe,

At first please make sure your role has the rights to attach a file, in Collaboration we have below roles can do this:
*Document Editor (Level 1)
*Document Editor (Level 2)
*Administrator

You can assign role to specific user from:
*Vault Collaboration Client
Tools->Administration, Security tab, Users
*ADMS 2010
Tools->Administration, Security tab, Users

And then you can modify the permission of that file or folder from Vault Collaboration main menu:
File->Properties, Security tab

Hope this helps,
-Dicky

Dicky,

Thank you for your help.

My users has those rights at the group level and at the user level.

It still doesn't work.

Could you please check the ACL of the file you want to attach something on?
You can view it via:
1> Select the file in Vault Explorer.
2> Main menu: File->Properties...
3> Security tab
Check that to see if you assign the correct rights to this file.

If your user was assigned appropriate permission, the file may also be locked from editing by state-based security.
Please check the status of the file. Is it in Work In Progress? or other status you may not be able to edit on.

Thanks,
-Dicky

Dicky,

Yes, I found the problem. The file has to be in any other status, other then RELEASED.

Joe
