Access Vault 2013 from AutoCAD and Inventor 2011

Hi all, especially Autodesk employees

In the past there was a Vault 2012 Client Update for Inventor 2011 and AutoCAD 2011

What is the correct way to access Vault Basic 2013 from AutoCAD 2011 and Inventor 2011?

I spend the whole day on the new Support and Donload side, but I find no usefull hints.

Which Client can I use, which Update is necessary.

Can someone point me to the right direction?

This is very urgent, 20 people are stucked at the moment

Matthias

I haven't done this myself, but I think your Vault 2012 add-in should work. If not, I hope kept backups of the 2012 Vault so you can roll back.

This is from the Vault 2013 readme:

Support for Prior Vault Clients and Add-Ins

  • The Vault 2013 ADMS supports the use of Vault 2012 clients. Any Vault 2012 client can connect to a Vault 2013 ADMS of the same edition.
  • The Vault 2013 ADMS supports the use of any Vault Add-In which can connect to a Vault 2012 ADMS. The following Add-Ins may be used with a Vault 2013 ADMS of the same edition:
    • Vault 2012 Add-In
    • Vault 2011 Add-In backpatched to connect to a Vault 2012 ADMS
    • Vault 2010 Add-In backpatched to connect to a Vault 2012 ADMS
  • It is not recommended to administer Vault or Global settings through an older client. All administration of Vault and Global settings should be done through ADMS Console or a Vault client of the same release as the Vault server.
  • New functionality available in Vault 2013 will not be available in older Vault clients and Add-Ins.
  • Vault 2013 clients no longer display the ownership icon when another site has ownership of an entity but the lease has expired. As a result older clients will also not see the ownership icon. However, older Vault clients do not automatically request ownership if the other site's lease has expired as Vault 2013 clients do. As a result, users with older Vault clients may experience errors opening, checking out, or performing other operations on files which appear to be owned locally. In these cases, the user should manually request ownership and try the operation again.
  • Some functionality in a Vault 2013 client may not work when only an older version of the CAD application is installed or if an older version of the CAD application was last run. Running Inventor View 2013 or the 2013 version of the CAD application and then retrying the operation may resolve the issue.

Hi swalton,

great, I'm 2 minutes to late now , I also found it.

Thanks for your quick response and solution.

That's the problem when you didn't know the correct phrase for search,

english is not my nature language, so I waste a lot of time with the wrong keywords

Thanks again

Matthias
