$90K worth of the wrong material ordered: the "items dont update correctly" bug just kicked our tail again:

Everything is checked in, the ECO is closed, and Vault Manufacturing says
everything is fine, but the drawing BOM and the BOM in Vault Manufacturing
are different because the one in VM evidently never really updated, and was
still pointing to the old version of the assembly BOM.

So now whenever we finish with an ECO we have to manually check the two BOMs
to make sure they match. Not only that, but no one will be allowed to just
import a BOM from VM; they'll have to print the drawing file and enter it
manually. This software helps us...exactly how?

This one's on the CEO's desk. Autodesk, I'd say your name is mud, but I
think they're using stronger language than that. Don't be surprised if we
drop off subscription--or out of Autodesk's customer base entirely--this
year. Considering what we got for last year's "investment". I'm not going
to be the one to put my neck on the block (any more than it already is) by
suggesting that we cut another subscription check....

By the way, I'm not *just* blowing steam. The subscription portal support
submission page appears to be conveniently nonfunctional at the moment, and
management is demanding some answers, soonest. It's not inconceivable that
I could lose my job over this.

Walt,

I am sorry to hear that you are having this issue.

Can you send me your contact information (mikel.martin@autodesk.com) so
that I can get the correct people to contact you and discuss further?

Thank You,

I'll join the club here too. I don't want to start bashing....but Autodesk VM is costing us money as compared to PS.
In a nut shell...not at all impressed with VM2010!!!
There are more things broke or taken away than added witht he release of VM2010. It appears that us item oriented people who have been on from about day one ... have been scolded. I know better things are coming....but let's get them right this time instead of adding more features that don't work or stop working features from functioning. This whole lifecycle managment at the file level has not gained us a thing. Of all the SR's I have issued in the last two months....only a couple have been rectified....most times I get the response "your issue has been sent to our development team for review". The ironic thing is....most of the SR's are in response to functionality that is now broke or have been taken away from PS2009. I hope VM2011 is better.....or I'm going to be in the same boat is Walt.

Items dont update correctly in VP2012 upd1 either!! ... see the thread

"Disappointment" is the most tolerant word tp use. I begin feel more and more like Walt Jaquith...

Our company is at stage of using Item revisions and I don't want to be "person to blame" when problems like those would lead compane to money loss...

All inteligence of Inventor could be "multiplied by zero" with Autodesk PDM.

ADSK, something should be improoved urgently if you don't want to loose loyal CADmanagers.
