Urgent: Migrating to Vault 2012 With SQL Server 2008R2 "Workgroup" Edition

Hi Everyone,
I have an urgent question to ask.

We are upgrading our vault from 2011 to 2012 and moving it to a new server machine.
The scenario is

Current server (In service): (32 bit)
Running Windows server 2003 Std edition (SP2)
Sql server 2005 workgroup ( Database Size is 9.1 GB)
Autodesk Data management Server Console 2011

New Server Planned: (64 bit)
      Windows server 2008R2 Std Edition
SQL Sever 2008R2 WORKGROUP (No Service Pack)
      vault Server 2012

Question # 1:

In the System Requirements for Vault 2012, following is mentioned as approved Sql Sever software

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express, Workgroup, or Enterprise edition (SP2)
or     Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express, Standard, or Enterprise edition

This does not list Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 "WORKGROUP" edition. Is that an error in documentation or did I order wrong software. our current database size is 9.1 GB.

Question #2:
What would be the process of migration? As I understand it---

    1. Create a backup of the Current Database using ADMS Console 2011
    2. Create a list of current users and their roles.
    3. Copy the Database to new server in the same folder location as in previous machine.
    4. Install Vault 2012 on new machine.which will recognise the database.
    5. Migrate the database to 2012 edition.

    6. Add Users as they were in previous setup.

Any Help is appreciated.

Regards

Lalit

Q1 - The documentation is correct.  We do not support SQL Server 2008 R2 Workgroup edition.

Q2 -

  1. Backup the 2011 server from the ADMS Console.
  2. Install 2012 on the new server.
  3. Restore the backup created in step 1 on the new server. During the restore, set the location for the file store if different than the default location.

We are a small company with 3 seats and abour 9.1 GB of datdabase. It seems that the only way forward is to go for a costly option of SQL2008R2 standard .

Is there any other option?

You can move to SQL 2008 Workgroup.

We have decided to go for SQL Server 2008R2 standard addition.
