Does anyone know if there are any books published for AUD like the Mastering books for Civil 3D??
currently there arn't any books, there are some getting started Videos that come with the product. You can find them by clicking on the Help button in AUD2013 then selecting Videos. The Help section is your best bet for learning how to use or configure AUD on your own.
I believe that Linda Veit at Spatial Network Solutions has created a training class for AUD, you could give her a try

In addition to the online help, whitepapers are available on the Subscription Center for AUD. These provide more depth in certain areas of configuration including rules, validation, analysis, and setup of 3D models.
I would recommend starting with the Configuration Setup Guide whitepaper as it provides a high level overview of all basic configuration areas.
Also, you may want to refer to whitepaper packages from earlier releases as they may contain whitepapers which still apply but are not included in the later release packages.
And as mentioned above, additional training materials are also available.
you can try Dan Leighton I belive he has now reciently released his manuals for sale.
This can only mean it is a good thing for Autodesk and AUD users.

Unfortinately, I do not have access to the manuals so cannot comment on the content.
Good luck and if you get the manual, please let the rest of us know.
Maybe that will help convience my company to buy a set.
