Basam has enjoyed a life full of adventure, having experienced working in places as far-flung as Baghdad, Amman, Toronto, Chicago, and Phoenix. Currently, he is based in Los Angeles with Microdesk’s Architectural team. He is responsible for providing technical support, training, mentoring, and Building Information Modeling implementation services to architectural, building engineering and design clients. Prior to joining Microdesk, Basam was the BIM Manager at Skidmore Owings and Merrill, where he was responsible for creating and implementing project standards and development design workflows. He also worked on many high-profile design projects including the Burj Khalifa, currently the world’s tallest building, and the VA Denver Medical Center. Basam is a constant learner, so when he’s not providing training he can be found in the student’s seat taking PC technology and programming classes. He currently holds degrees in Architectural Engineering from the University of Technology in Baghdad, and PC Technology and Network Administration from DeVry Institute of Technology, is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Programming from DePaul University’s College of Computing. His other hobbies include photography, hanging out with his children, reading, cooking, and BBQ’ing. Be forewarned: he is also known for reprimanding his students with the classic Seinfeld line "no soup for you!"
