Why do careless, carefree, and uncaring not mean the same thing?
Why do we park on a driveway and drive on a parkway?
If an orange tree was to be grown on an aircraft carrier, would it produce naval oranges?
I'm totally drawing a blank right now as to the name of the song or the artist but......
There's an oldies song that I've heard MANY times about dropping a letter in the mail and it "came right back to me the very next day". That would involve dropping it in the mail, having the mail carrier pick it up, take it to the distribution center for sorting, someone else delivering it to the recipient, the recipient refusing it, the mail carrier returning it to the distribution center for sorting and the mail carrier delivering it back to the sender -- all in the course of ONE DAY.
Even in today's world of next day air shipments, I don't see this happening. But that song originated in what -- the FIFTIES? Hmmmm
I was driving late at night all by myself one night (after about 7 hrs) and that was one of my wandering thoughts.

Really? I thought I would've remembered Elvis singing it. I thought I knew every Elvis song.
EDIT: learn something everyday I guess. I just looked it up on wikipedia.

One of those mid-afternoon duh moments.
Though you are spot on about the postman doing a bang-up job like that.

If Jimmy cracks corn and nobody cares, why is there a song about it?
How else would we all know that no one cares?

How about the stickers on the gas pumps that say "Pre-pay in advance". I think if that were possible it would involve a time machine.
Seems like it should just say "pay in advance" or just "pre-pay" Hmmm.
Why does the debit pad at the store ask if the amount is okay?
No, it's not! But I have to say yes anyway.

The letter (without being openned) is being dropped off back in his mail-box by the girl - she's writing address unknown etc. hoping he'll move on or figure it out. It's a bittersweet puppy love song - the sender is too clueless to put it together.
My reply is out of sequence above - sorry - the Elvis song a bit back for those wondering.
My contribution to hmm... why does Awesome means great and Awful the opposite - you'd think full of awe is better.
We had a note on our highway construction plane. "All work must take place within the Right-of-Way". Our local region of our DOT made us expand the note before we were eligible for funding. It now reads "All work must take place within the Right-of-Way. No work may take place outside the Right-of-Way." I think they think that you can be inside and possibly still be outside. More likely they can't understand anything that isn't redundant.

Why do we get in a car, but on a bus? Has anyone ever actually got on a bus? Sounds dangerous.

Why do we pronounce bicycle like (bi-sick-el) but pronounce motorcycle like (motor-sikel)?
Imagine the following on a road sign: CHURCH DRIVE SLOW
Now does it say to drive slow because there's a church? Or does it say to go slow because there's a church drive (like driveway)?
