Twain had great quotes. I think he also said, "You'll never grow old if you continue to learn, continue to try new things and never mind being contradicted."

Which explains why my father has taken up learning to play the bodhran ... which he plays while reciting poetry or other things he's memorized.

Indeed. My Grandpa started learning AutoCAD right before he retired (in 1989), then took up home computers at that point. After he'd had enough of traveling, he took up a little graphic design on the pc, then bowling (which he'd never done before). Now, of course, he smokes us all in bowling on a regular basis. And, in his 80's, still lives on his own and gets around just fine. Good man. (he's picked up a few other hobbies over the years, but, those are the ones he stuck with.)
