New Autodesk Pricing/Suite Content

Okay, for those of us that are sole proprietors & rely on Autodesk products, this is just cruel.

We faithfully entered into a subscription with Autodesk, paid our invoices on time & this is what we get for our loyalty?  A $250 increase in our subscriptions for a suite containing products that we have never, nor will ever use.

I am not a consulting engineer & will never use the MEP & Structural products contained in this new suite that I am forced to pay for just for the privilege of being able to use my subscription.

Gee, thanks a lot, Autodesk.  You've made me feel real special.

OK.

I'm not saying you're wrong. But since there are a number of Autodesk products and Suites containing different products. We'd have a better understanding of what you're going through if you named your product and suite. Also a link to the description of the new policy your talking about would be helpful.

I'm a Civil 3D user and we were not forced to purchase a suite.

I don't know what your needs are. But if you only need Revit, tell your reseller to downgrade your subscription to Autodesk Revit Architecture 2013, a standalone application.

Whenever Autodesk comes up with a new and simplified upgrade policy. It means they "simply" want more of your money. This will be my 30th year using their products. So I've seen quite a few.

Suites have always had a hidden sting: I resisted the initial "value" because unless every user really and truly uses the package every day they have always been a waste of money IMHO.
So far that has proven to be the correct approach: we are only paying for what we have only ever used, no idle "extras" here.

Sorry you got stung, this world still remains a buyer-beware world: of it's too good to be true, it always is. Even at Autodesk.

Yeah, I'm not thrilled either.

I use the Revit MEP Suite. Most of our work is still being managed through AutoCAD/AutoCAD MEP, but, we're doing a transition from CAD to BIM, so, 10% of our campus is already RVT.

Only having the one license on my budget means the total cost increase isn't huge, but, as a percentage of subscription increase... it's enough to make me mighty irritated.

We only need simple AutoCAD and Revit but now have to buy all of these other products as well. The cost of just getting the two as stand alone products is just slightly less that the suite we are being forced into.

AD should offer a build your own suite option.  They can even tell us we have to include a certain number of products... but can choose from a list of acceptable items.  Then price the suite based on what we need for our companies, not what they assume we need.  For example, I use Product Design Suite, which comes with a ton of stuff I've never even opened... but does not include P&ID which I need.  I know... P&ID is in Plan Design Suite... but Electrical is not.  I need both.  I'd gladly trade some stuff for P&ID to make the perfect customized suite for my small company.

Preach it, brother!

I had to opine on this for my niche because the suite I'm being stuck with isn't what I'd hand-pick for myself
