Technical Art
Technical Art as a discipline has grown from the crafting of simple scripts in Max or Maya to the creation of full art processing pipelines. Now technical artists are expected to create data translators, procedural art generation tools, code shaders, and maintain data archives, among other things. This forum is a place where technical artists can meet to discuss any and all issues, ideas, or insights they might have so that others can help and learn from them.

Modeling or Sculpting

Which is the difference between modeling and sculpting???
Can be modeled in Mudbox? Can be sculpted in 3ds Max?

Sculpting apps like Mudbox and ZBrush don't create animatable geometry but allow for supper high density models to be created with high detail. Max and Maya are able to create models with nice edge flow and are able to be rigged and animated.

pen is right... to crate a high detailed char for animation you would need both... max for the animateable geo and mudbox for the details... the details are stored in displacement maps and make your model super detailed during rendering in max...

What would be the best way to create a rotating wireframe animation, sculpting or modeling?

Well from the term itself, it modeling is getting something done with a base, which means that you are going to start with something and apply the detail afterward through making use of what is available.

While with sculpting, you are given a bigger option and you are to eke your way out of the bigger piece to apply the details as intently as you could to make it all available altogether.
