I would like to select an open countour for a 2D Contour operation and I would like to shorten the entry and exit point. Is there a way of doing this with-out creating and or editting geometry to do this.

This is currently not supported. But the feature is already planned and should be available soon.

I know this is an old thread, and that you have added the ability to shorten or lengthen the lead-in/lead-out, but not independently. Is there any plan to allow this? I have many instances where mirroring the extents leads to excessive lead in or out one one end.

Have you tried playing with the tangential extensions?  You can even specify a negative distance to force it to stop short.

Yes, thank you. It works, but on a part where a cut is not symetric to the stock, you end up with way to much lead on one side or the other. Ideally you could adjust the entry and exit seperately.

Thanks,

To get a separate lead out check "Separate tangential end extension"

Note, I love to engage on the forums. However, I spend a lot of time in meetings trying to help clear the path for our amazing team of Developers working on Manufacturing at Autodesk. So, if I don't respond immediately, it's not that I don't care.

Thanks - i'll look that up. I missed that completely

** Update ** so that works, but not for face mills? or do I have to use non-face strategies if I want to constrain or angle the entry and exit? Kinda thought facing would allow more options? Thnx
