How to compose gameplay codes in C++ with Stingray

Hello,

I am looking around Stingray.

It seems to suggest to compose gameplay codes in Lua or in Flow, its visual programming system.

But, I am familiar with C++ and C++ is still a good language for game programming if I give consideration to performance.

Does not Stingray provide a way to compose gameplay codes in C++? What I mean is a sample framework to which can be refered, demos that show how to use the framework, and the references of C++ libraries.

I cannot find any header file in the installed engine and any reference of C++ libraries.

If I want to make a game in C++, should I get a source-code license?

Any comment will be appreciated. 🙂

HI zemisis,

To work in cpp, you will need a source code license. If you don't want to get source, the options are gameplay coding in LUA or using Flow to do visual scripting for gameplay features. Thanks!

Thank you for a clear answer, Dan. Smiley Very Happy

But, I am not sure whether the source code license includes what I need.

If I get a source code license, does the souce code pack include the demos that show me how I can use Stingray engine features with the framework and provide a way to expand Stingray Editor or to add to it some features that I need?

Also Does it provide any additional help documentation about the engine source codes?

Source comes with support and we are always here to help you with examples and answers. Much of what you'd probably like to do as a source developer would be self-revealing once you navigate and explore the source code. With source you would be able to modify the engine however you like to suit your needs for development. Are you an indie developer? Or is this something a team would be working on? We do have evaluation licenses for certain projects and you can apply for that at Autodesk Gameware.
