relative coordinates

Hi,

I would like to know how to start a sketch positioning the first point at a certain distance, for example at 20 mm from a selected edge.

Also how to start the first point with numeric input?

Is it possible to create a local origin and input numeric values respecting the local or world coordinates?

regards

For the first question, there is not a command line prompt (like AutoCAD) or a precise input (like Inventor) for the intial placement of a sketch figure. This is easy to work around though. You can drop a sketch point into a sketch and then dimension this point to the origin to get a precise starting point. Once the point is in place, you can snap to the point to create other sketch entities.

Each component has its own origin or coordinate system relateive to the Design's default origin. You may be able to take advantage of this to achieve the results you're looking for.

I know that both of these suggestions are work-arounds, but these feature would make great feature enahancement requests. You can add them to the Fusion 360 IdeaStation for future consideration.

I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Someone requested this feature for Fusion 360 in 2014. Still nothing? I just got the trial of Fusion 360. Should I be spending my time learning a different, more fully featured software?

That featerue request was from 2014 from a user fairly unexperienced in Fusion 360 at the time.

That feature is note really necessart in Fusion 360.

You can project edges, points, curves ectc. from existing geometry into the current sketch and then use these as a reference for the new sketch. Just dimension the new reference XY point from a projected point.
