Razor Design Tutorial Problem

Hi,

I'm currently learning the Razor tutorial problem but I'm having a problem where the model I extracted doesn't come with rounded edges, mine is solid edges. Where did I go wrong?

Thanks

It is difficult to tell from the screenshot. Perhaps it is the active display mode?

You can toggle the display mode by selecting the Sculpt body and then pressing ALT + 1 (box mode), or ALT +2 (hybrid mode) or ALT+ 3 (smooth mode).

Or you can select the command from the Modify menu.

Let me know if this helps or if you have more questions.

Thanks,

Nope, didn't work.

What I do is basically follow the tutorial in http://fusion360.autodesk.com/resources
Get Started > Tutorials > Create a Razor Design from Concept

At the part after using the face command to trace the razor, I have to extrude it, but instead of getting the model to have rounded edges like in the video, mine has no rounded edges at all.

Omartan90,

The short answer: use the uncrease command to soften the edges.  Below is the long answer plus two other altenative approaches. I trust one of the solutions will help you move forward with the tutorial.

I believe some of the default functionality of the latest Fusion 360 build has changed. After you've completed the edit form extrude step, navigate to the toolbar and select modify > uncrease. Alternatively you can right-click and select modify > uncrease from the pop-up menu. The command menu will come up asking you to select edges to uncrease.  A box selection of all the edges will be the quickest. However, if you select edges one by one you will be able to see the T-Spline form soften progressively.

Two alternative modeling approaches that will yield geometry already in smooth mode are:

1) Use the T-Spline Create > Extrude command. Set direction to symmetrical and make sure the embed symmetry box is checked  if you want to maintain symmetry across the plane your orginal faces were created on.

2) Use the T-Spline Modify > Thicken command. This command adds material to one side in the  + or - direction.  This option only yield the desired geometry because we've started with a set of flat surface faces. The result will be a closed body that you may want to delete the faces that lay along the original sketch plane before performing a duplicate mirror to create symmetrical geometry to work with.

Thanks, I used the modify > uncrease and it works perfectly!

Yeah, my guess is some of the features has been updated compared to the one shown in tutorial.
