Fusion 360 Community,
I am having difficulty with the Loft command -- it complains that my smooth chain is not smooth and that I should put tangent (G1) constraints at each of the joints. As you can see in the file V2C_Aft_Path.jpg, there in a tangent constraint at each of the five joints. When I try to select the path sketch as my centerline, the entire path highlights when I hover over any single segment, so it seems to think it is all one connected path. But when I click on the path to select it as my centerline, I get the error message shown in V2C_Aft_Path_Error.jpg.
What is especially puzzling is that this loft worked flawlessly in an earlier version of the model. I've tried to cut and paste the working path from that earlier version, but Fusion 360 doesn't seem to support that.
I've also tried to delete and re-do the sketch several times, since that once worked on a different problem, but it is not helping here.
Regards,
Bill
Hi Bill,
Thanks for posting your question, would it be possible to share a copy of the design? See the below link for a quick way to do create a Public link in Fusion 360.
https://screencast.autodesk.com/Main/Details/2b205403-2b70-4121-be9c-5ef9aa6b9134
Thanks,
Yes, I can. If I did it right the link is:
https://myhub.autodesk360.com/ue29d3c70/shares/public/SH7f1edQT22b515c761efe4160422298106c
The only way to get out of the Share dialog was to click the X in the upper right of the dialog. I hope that didn't undo my attempt to share.
No need to rush -- I probably won't ckeck back until this time tomorrow,
Regards,
Bill
Thanks for sharing this file. I tested this file and found that I am able to reproduce the issue. At this time, I was not able to come up with a solution. The warning message doesn't seem to be true to me, either. I will log an incident with development for further investigation and circle back to let you know what I find out.
Thank you for reporting this issue. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Best Regards,
I am having the exact same issue right now.
Has there been a work around discovered yet?
I am kinda stalled out on the design without one.
Thanks for letting us know about this. The old issue (logged under incident ID FUS-14812) has been closed. Perhaps your case is slightly different.
Can you share a sample file with us via a public link? You can right click on the design in the data panel to access the Share Public Link command.
Don't forget to enable the item to be downloaded.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
this is such a frustrating feature - just let me loft what I click on. why all the smooth chain hassle?
Please share your design, so we can look at it and suggest next steps.1
Hi Peter,
Saving me masking a new topic, I thought I would bring up the most recent one I found with a google search to see if there are any solutions people have come across.
I am getting the same error where the centreline is not smooth. Strange since it is a combination of intersection curves which are all defined by tangents.
Sorry to bring this topic up again, but saves me making a new one. What if my spline is made up of several intersected curves? The reason that is it multiple is because the intersect curve function does not allow me to select a "chain" (aka a line with multiple points to intersect with another line with multiple points) when trying to generate a intersect curve ie my centreline is made from multiple splines/lines.
Thanks,
Ariel
