How to share a file with additional groups

Hi,

i've created a file a while ago and placed into the "my group" group which i use for all files that i only work on myself. Now my partner in crime also created a fusion360 account and wants to join me editing the file. Unfortunately i can't find a way to additionally share this file with the group we've just created together or move it to there. looks like i can only move the file within all folders in "my group" group and not share with additional groups.

What is the way to go here? Can you point out? Thanks!

Frank,

To my best knowledge a design must "live" in a single group. You can have multiple folders within a group.

I would recommend adding this to the IdeaStation for future consideration.

It is possible to move a design between groups as you mentioned below. A work around may be to use the Save Copy As feature to create a copy of the design. Then move the copied design to the shared group for collaboration.

To do this :

1. Open the design

2. Right click on the name of the design in the browser (very top node) and select Save Copy As

Save Copy As.png

3. Give the file a new name

Save Copy As2.png

4. The design will then show in the Activity Feed after refreshing the feed.

Save Copy As3.png

5. You can then Move the Design to a new group in the Details Page for the design

Save Copy As4.png

6. Choose "All" to get all of the available groups and then move the design to a new group.

Save Copy As5.png

7. Once in the new group, Invite group members to edit the design

Save Copy As7.png

This will allow you to keep your design as is in the current folder and in a new group. The designs are not "linked," but you may choose to move the design back to the original group when the collaboration is completed.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions or any feedback, in general about this process.

Thanks,

Thanks, Nathan.

Well.... that allows me to keep a copy of my original design but it doesn't allow me to edit a file with multiple groups , right?

Not the best solution overall but seems to do the trick for now.

Thanks again,

Frank

Thanks for raising this topic.

I've passed your requirment to the developers, we may support sharing a file with multi groups in future.
