How do I open uploaded files into my workspace?

I am trying to model a helmet and I need to import a head model that I have in order to work off of as reference. However, whenever I upload a file (I've tried .step and .3dm) it never opens in Fusion 360, it takes me to A360 in my browser to preview the file.

How do I get the file into the Fusion 360 workspace?

When you upload, are you using the Upload command located in the Data Panel?
