Create as component or join with body?

I created these braces for some added strength in this design. Right now they are components. My reason for going that route was so that I could change one and the other would change. That's a small advantage. Are there advantages to joining them with the body? If so, how do you join the bodies of one component with another?

As these (Ribs) are part of same design (for adding strength), it can be combined to make it as a single solid body.
For this, you can use Model->Modify->Combine command and select base design as 'Target Body' and these Ribs as 'Tools' then say OK with Join option.

To make it easy for modify you can try using sketches/parameter to drive that Ribs size.
