Fusion, after the last update, seems if anything less OK with unstable (dynamic IP) internet connections. I have a fairly fast (for the US- 28 mbps) fiber optic line, but it checks out momentarily several times a day. For most applications this is seamless, but when I go to shut down Fusion is stalls pretty much 100% of the time and I must force quit. This does not generate a CER. It makes me nervous about saving, though I have not lost data. I don't think I have ever been able to just quit Fusion normally if it has been open more than an hour.
Hi Ron,
Is this happening more often in a sleep/awake situation of the machine or is this occuring even when you have been actively using the product and trying to close the application? If it is the sleep/awake situation I am thinking if switching between offline mode and online mode is causing a problem. Would defeinitely like to understand what is going on here.

It doesn't seem to have to do with the system going to sleep, as my desktop rarely does. I don't tend to use Fusion all day, so it might be in the background for a while. I have never noticed it going into offline mode. But it does seem to have lost the server connection, as anything that requires that, like saving a copy or shutting down will tend to create an endless hang and the dread beach ball. Note that I have not lost Internet connectivity in these instances.
I know the Frontier fiber connection we are on periodically has glitches or momentary interruptions that may take some, but not all, our computers offline. Sometimes these require a modem reset to get everybody back up and connected. I suspect Fusion's problems are related to that.
Just to update this issue, it's been very consistent- if I leave Fusion running for an hour or so when I walk away, when I come back it will hang if I try to do anything that would require cloud access, including- but not limited to- trying to quit. This generates lots of crashes, but never a Crash Error Report, as that dialog doesn't come up when the only option is a force quit.
On the bright side, the graphics are working better with large windows open, though anti-aliasing does not seem to be an option I have available on my Mac.
For what it's worth I'm being forced to "Force Quit" once every 24-48 hours. (My internet connection is extremely slow so perhaps this is part of the problem...)
It seems to lock up when I try to do "something big". I.e. Select many components at once; save a file which hasn't been saved in a few hours; etc.
Yep, that's what I am seeing as well. If I stop actively working for an hour or two, the odds are about 90% that Fusion will be non-responsive when I get back and I will need to force quit. If system/ console logs would be helpful I can get some. Is this an issue with any particular system (I'm Mac) or type of Internet?
This isn't improving, and it's not just an issue when trying to quit.
I've gotten stuck now by trying to open a design that shows in the sidebar in my project. At first Fusion became non-responsive and required a force quit. It asked me on restart to open the cached version, which I did. But when I again tried to open another file in my project I was unsuccessful. Fusion was still working to edit the cached file, it did not appear frozen, but if I mouse over the project panel, I get the spinning ball.
So quit, I thought, and try again. I closed the original file and Fusion asked if I want to save- I said yes. Now it is telling me an upload is in progress- clearly it's trying, but it's not actually happening. This is on a solid 30+ mbps Internet connection. It seems to be machine specific, as I can access and open the files that are causing trouble on my old laptop- same ethernet, same router. The files are not behaving well, however. Oddly, there are bodies in the file that highlight when selected from the browser, but are otherwise invisible- it's as if visibility is turned off, but it is on. The same is true of a decal in this component.
It appears that Fusion is losing contact with the servers, but not issuing any kind of warning. Saving to the cloud is not working, but users don't know that until its too late to do anything.
Trying to Quit again, and Fusion bacame completely non repsonsive- force quit.
Hey Ron
There was an update that was released today. I was wondering if it has helped at all with this issue. If the issue is ongoing, it may help to get a copy of your diagnostic log files.
Please e-mail them to me at Nathan.Chandler@Autodesk.com.
Thanks,
Just to keep this alive on the forum, in case there are other clues. I have continued to experience several force quit episodes per day- quite predictably after leaving Fusion in the background an hour or more.
Today, with everything seeming to be running fine, I had a message pop up that said auto save had been disabled because a newer version- "Version 0"- was in the cloud. I was on version 117. I manually saved, and it appears to be adding versions now normally.
A couple of hours later I tried to open another file from the data panel- I'm not able to do so, and just get the spinning beach ball when I hover over the data panel. I select "Share Public Link", which I need to do, and get a blank dialog open in the middle of my drawing. Yet I can edit the already open file just fine. And neither the dock or activity monitor indicate Fusion is hung up. However, when I attempt to quit Fusion, it hangs and I am only able to Force Quit.
I always seem to be able to reopen an autosaved version and get back to work. Rinse and repeat. I've tried to duplicate this behavior on my laptop (same OS, same ethernet), and have not been able to- it seems specific to my iMac. This is also on a fresh installation of Fusion.

It’s interesting- I don’t have the problem on my laptop.
I may have another clue.
There is a file- a component from another drawing on which I did a “Save a Copy”. It’s a circuit board and components I wanted to be able to share with a layout house for parts placement, without including the entire design. This file now regularly crashes Fusion whenever I try to open it on my iMac. I notice in the data view that when I click the “i” icon, I see the file name, “Fusion Design updated on 9/30/14”, but no “created by” or “stored in” labels. No option to open details in A360. Anything I try to do to access this file hangs up Fusion. This is the only file that appears to have this issue.
The odd part is that looking at my data panel on my laptop, the same file appears normally, including project info and created by. And I can open it. I can Save As, and view it in A360. Even after opening and closing this file on my laptop, my iMac doesn’t see the normal information about it.
Don’t know if this is related, but it is another instance of my iMac and MacBook seeing something in the cloud differently.
Hi Ron,
On this file that is exibiting this behaviour, you mentioned that after opening/closing it on the Macbook the iMac still shows the same problem. Did you try to do a save of this file on the Macbook and then access it from the iMac? I am wondering if forcing a new version corrects this problem?

No, I had tried that, and the file version does not seem to be the issue.
