Spring constraints in warpage simulation

Hello to all,

I did several simulations using spring constraints as a representation of a part insert to determine its influence to the warpage.

This is working very well with midplane meshes but does not give feasible results in 3D, although the job is running without any problems, means no warnings or errors in the .log file. I'm using ASMI 2014 SP1 on Win7.

Are there any restrictions in using constrains as boundary conditions in 3D simulations ?

I did not find a clear explanation of this topic in the Moldflow Help.

Greetings

Marco

Hi Marco,

You are required to specify the stiffness of each individual spring. The values and units for stiffness are derived from force/length.

You can get help at: http://help.autodesk.com/view/MFIA/2014/ENU/?guid=GUID-5C77FC1F-39C7-4536-BF89-57B061B5C1B4

I hope this helps.

Mayur

Hello Mayur,

I know and did it the way as you've described but it is not working on 3D models. I meanwhile got feedback from my local Autodesk helpline and it seems to be a bug in the software.

Thanks a lot for your response !
